What breed of dog would be the right for an apartment?
I live in an apartment and I'm allowed to have small - medium size dogs, and I'm lam looking for one that doesn't bark as much, friendly yet can be a guard dog, INDEPENDENT because i work 10 hours a day so he might be alone for awhile, and whose very loving short haired, and affectionate. What breeds do you recommend that have the listed characteristics.
Hmm, I don't recommend pups to be left alone for 10hours a day, Adults max 8hours a day.
Pups need time an attention and you really can't provide that when you work 10hours a day. Pups really shouldn't be left alone anymore then 2hours
Most shorthair dogs are Terrier or Pinscher which means there prone to EXCESSIVE barking.
And iF your looking for a low shedding dog, shorthair is NOT the best WAY to go, MOST shorthair dogs shed as much as GOLDEN RETRIEVER, fluffy type small dogs or wirehaired coated breeds or greyhound are the best for low shedding
Beagles maybe small but DO NOT make good apartment dogs, they BARK and HOWL and Baying, which would drive most neighbours up the wall
I was thinking Dandie Dinmont Terrier, they don't bark much , but hae a HUGE dog bark, very protective and medium sized, they do not shed much, and they are loving.
Dogs that do make good apartment dogs, providing they have the appropiate amount of exercise. Remember many of the toys, and hearding breeds are PRONE to excessive barking
Chihuahua

Toy Fox Terrier
