Skin Protective Tape

Help regarding a burn?
I burnt myself on a hot metal surface at work three days ago, initially it just hurt and was very red, now it has blistered slightly but the worrying thing is that the top layer of skin comes off very easily (eg i caught it with a finger nail, wouldn't have even scratched normally but has taken off skin on the burn, which then started weeping.) The main thing is that im concerned about infection, should I cover it and if so should i use a bandage or will a protective pad held on with medical tape work?
On a side note I also work with food so I am assuming that I have to cover it at work, in case it causes contamination, the same question applies as above.
I had a really bad grease burn about a month ago and they told me to keep it covered with cream on it, some kinda silver cream stuff they prescribed, keep it covered until the skin starts to heal up or it will get infected, but it does have to breathe sometimes, so when you are home and not doing anything uncover it and let it breathe a little
